Mod-tastic!

Roger Day, BBC Radio & 1960's Caroline DJ

  1. The Rest are a Mod band from Cricklewood, London, whose teenage adventures are at the heart of Tony Norman’s memoir, My Cool Sixties. They formed as a four-piece in 1964 playing American R&B. By '65 they were playing all-nighters in Soho. In late '66 they were all set to record a single called Ready Steady Go! as a tribute to Cathy McGowan and her brilliant music show.

Then the shock news broke that TV bosses had decided to scrap the programme they all loved. Fast forward to 2022 and you will hear The Rest’s lost song on the 10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition e-book, along with a track called Beautiful, which celebrates their all-night gigs in Soho.
Check out their video of Ready Steady Go! here on this site.
